As I just purchased a DJ quality turntable, I'll be ripping much of my old vinyl soon for more music.  I did a few test rips and filtered out any "pops" and the result was excellent; hard to tell these are from vinyl!  It helps that I kept my 80's records in pristine condition; my 80's new wave collection was much treasured way back when from my college DJ days.  Lots of stories from that era, but I will save *those wild stories* for another time...!
